![]() ![]() It works perfectly on Hey Joe using Transcribe, btw, just by panning hard left: the lead guitar disappears (simply panning hard right doesn't isolate it, because the backing is still there - so what Riffstation shows is not as simple as it looks). ![]() Likewise "muting" the guitar - which they're honest enough to admit "doesn't work on every song". However it still seems to leave a slight ghost echo of the backing, which Riffstation seems to remove, so that's interesting. That's because most of the track seems to be panned dead centre, so when you cut the centre the lead guitar comes out almost on its own. In fact I checked using my Transcribe software: I can bring the guitar out slightly more clearly than Riffstation - less distortion - using the out of phase setting. But "isolate" it, no way - except in rare circumstances such as the Hey Joe example they give, where the guitar seems to be panned hard right. So you might be able to make one guitar a little clearer. ![]() There are ways of messing with stereo tracks to bring one instrument more or less forward - or to remove it entirely if it's panned centre - but in normal stereo mixes most instruments share parts of their sound in the stereo spread and in the EQ spectrum.
